RAM 2500 Outdoorsman: SEMA Show

What Is It?

A playground for RAM's in-house Mopar accessory department, the RAM 2500 Outdoorsman Concept (not to be confused with the production model of the same name) gives truck fans a glimpse of future customization options. It's notable that RAM chose the heavy-duty 2500 as its centerpiece for the 2014 SEMA Show. HD trucks used to be mere workhorses, but they're now being considered for their luxury and lifestyle features, too.
With its Mossy Oak Bottomland camouflage exterior accents and Swamp Thing Green paint, the 2500 Outdoorsman Concept looks like something out of a hunting equipment catalog. A trio of bed-mounted utility hoops can pop up into an Oregon Trail-style tent for those long nights on the trail -- or to keep your gear protected from the elements. A concept Mopar roof rack adds versatility, while the experimental flip-up seatback tailgate transforms into a 2-person bench when flipped back toward the cab. An accessory rear step next to the bumper facilitates bed access.
The 2500 Outdoorsman's 17-inch 8-lug beadlock wheels are also Mopar concepts, with meaty 35-in BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 tires. Bolted-on Mopar fender flares give the truck even more of a rough-and-ready character. A Mopar suspension-leveling kit and Bilstein shocks add the finishing touches to this seriously capable package.

Will They Ever Build It?

As with most of FIAT/Chrysler's SEMA lineup, the RAM 2500 Outdoorsman probably won't be offered to the public in this exact specification. The idea is to test the waters for a variety of dealer-installed extras, and we expect to see many of the Outdoorsman's add-on features offered by RAM dealers in the near future.
